Letter from the Outgoing CCA President - 2010 & 2011

At our November meeting, we elected new members of the Columbus Compensation Association (CCA) Board.  I am pleased to announce that in January, I will hand over the role of President of the CCA Board to Maureen Koblentz.  Joining Maureen as new members to the Board will be John Groves as Treasurer and Tom Bond as Communications Chairperson.  Teri Martise will return to the Board in the Professional Development Chairperson role.  Returning members of the Board include:

  • Rebekah Marette – VP Membership
  • Meredith Salata – Secretary
  • Rupal Brich – Facilities Chairperson
  • Mark Briggs – transitioning from Technology Chair to VP Programming
  • Judith Juodvalkis – transitioning from Communications to Technology Chairperson

It has been a privilege and an honor to have served you as President.  I am pleased about the accomplishments that have occurred over the last two years, although I certainly cannot take credit for them.  This belongs to the hard-working, talented and dedicated board members.  We have:

·

  • Implemented revisions to the Bylaws allowing for student memberships, electronic voting, and clarify board roles/responsibilities;
  • Implemented on-line membership payments for the 2012 membership renewals;·
  • Upgraded the content management of our website, including adding a Community Forum and publishing an online membership directory;·
  • Had strong participation in our course offerings and meetings;·
  • Hosted a variety of excellent, respected speakers; and·
  • Improved the content and frequency of our communications.

I would like to sincerely thank the 2011 Board for their service.  David Giesman, our outgoing Professional Development Chair, facilitated courses that provided developmental opportunities to our members, while providing significant revenue to help fund future programming.  In addition, Sally Weisman, our outgoing Treasurer, provided the leadership and guidance to ensure our good standing with state and federal agencies and compliance with required reporting.  Thank you, David and Sally, for your service and commitment to the organization over the years!  You were invaluable assets to our team.

As I move from the position of President to Past President, I am glad this is not farewell, but just a change of roles.  It is a pleasure to work with the board and members that care about improving and elevating our profession.

I wish everyone a happy new year and look forward to seeing you at events in the coming year!

Sincerely,
